(Lexington, KY --October 26, 2008)—The 2nd Annual CanAm Sport Horse Classic Showcase Sale and Futurity took place at the Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, Kentucky, on October 19 – 21, 2008, in conjunction with the Hagyard Midsouth Eventing & Team Challenge CCI*. The three day event consists of a CanAm Sport Horse Showcase, Sale and Futurity, and featured sixteen weanlings presented by participating breeders.

The CanAm Classic Showcase is a series of parades of the Sale weanlings, complete with color commentary about each one provided by Connie Dorsch, Dorsch Farms, Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. Spectators highly praised the weanlings for their behavior and the handlers for their turnout.

The CanAm Sport Horse Sale’s high selling weanling at $2,800.00 was Go Figure, a ½ Hanoverian, ¼ Thoroughbred, ¼ Percheron dark brown filly sold by Ravine Ranch Sport Horses of Lenore, Manitoba, and bought by Joan O’Conner, of Northbrook, Illinois. Go Figure is registered with the Canadian Sport Horse Association (CSHA) and was sired by Gringo, a registered Hanoverian stallion, and is out of Q Tip, a CHSA registered, Thoroughbred/Percheron-cross mare.

As an added incentive, weanlings purchased at Saturday’s sale were invited back to compete in the $5,200.00 CanAm Classic Futurity on Sunday. The winner was Go Buster Go, purchased in the auction by Sunshine Oaks Sport Horses, Dr. Jim and Tamera Powers of Madison, Alabama and exhibited by Steve Dryden of Early Dawn Sport Horses. For the win, Dr. and Mrs. Powers received $1,000.00 and a trophy cooler. Go Buster Go was sired by Najib, a registered PHR Thoroughbred stallion, and is out of a Percheron-cross mare.

Judges were Neil and Ginny Howard, Lexington, Kentucky, and Lori Hoos, Wil-lo Blue Farm, Franklin, Tennessee. Neil is general manager Gainsway Farm and Ginny is an active hunter competitor and for USEF judge. Lori is a USEA &USEF judge and an active foxhunter with the Hillsboro Hounds.

The "People’s Choice Award" was presented to Brenda Daku, of Maple Springs Sport Horses consignor of Maple Springs Gauge. The flashy chestnut colt with three white stockings and winning personality made him an easy choice!
